Maya Dynamics #01

For this set of Maya tutorials, we're beginning to look at dynamics with particles and emitters. Here are a few tests experimenting with the various use of emitters and particles to create a number of effects; from clouds, fuse, an explosion and steam.

Hey Leo, that problem with the cloud dynamics where it flashes happened to me too. I believe it was because I was doing other tasks on my PC whilst it rendered so I just rerendered and left it alone and all worked fine :)

Looks like it's going into a lightning storm, haha.

Ha it does doesn't it. I thought it was just a glitch with the lighting setup or something. I'm pretty sure I left my pc idle whilst rendering. Weird.

Oh right, I'm guessing it's one of those 2011 glitches lol, there are a few that still need fixing.

This error happened to me too! Although only on a few frames. I just re rendered those frames manually for now.

Chances are that it is because the simulation wasn't cached, meaning that it is having to calculate the sim on the fly as it renders.

Caching a sim is something which I presume Alan will talk about in a later lesson.

Oh yea of course, I completely forgot about that. Makes sense that that would be the problem :) Cheers ethan
