Shrine Environment #03

A lot of experimenting with textures and Normal Maps this week, while making more progress with the shrine environment. Textures have been applied throughtout the environment along with additional adjustments to the lighting.

Totem Models

The base models of the totems was taken into Zbrush, polypainted (painted directly onto the model rather than a flat texture map) and scuplted for additional details. From this, normals maps and texture maps from polypaint can be exported and applied to the base mesh.

Textures

Here are some of the textures I created for my scene.

Filter Textures

In our second texture workshop, we looked into the process of creating textures using filters as a starting base. Its quite surprising the array of different surfaces and textures you can create with filters alone, which can work without the need of photos. Though, when combined with particular surfaces of photos with further manipulation, one can achieve some pretty pleasing and unique results.

Gravel type texture

I'm quite pleased with the results, though I hope the textures work convincingly enough to convey the intended material especially when used in Maya.

Texture Workshop #1

First go at creating texture maps that wrap and repeat in a tile fashion. Its quite tricky, though I'm sure I'll get better with more practice. Made in 1024px but reduced for your viewing pleasure.

Its at an acceptable level where I hope to further refine my technique in future textures.
