Some early designs into the BGH character, following the proud, gentlemanly stereotype.
Digital sketches
I've tried to capture some iconic features such as a pithe helmet, a musket blunderbuss type rifle and a well groomed moustache. While I believe these work well in some respects, I think some more attitude could work well in capturing his proud nature while similarly ridiculing him, perhaps by stylising him more in an exaggerated manner.

Wow Leo! Impressive drawings :) And I like the mood sheet :)
These are great Leo, he reminds me of George Rose:http://img.youtube.com/vi/iSloW2coCDQ/0.jpg
I really like the style, I can't wait to see the storyboards.
Thanks guys, encouraging as always. I guess thats the kind of character I'm going for Sam :)
Hey Leo,
Great to see you getting stuck into the character design bit - but can I make a suggestion? While your existing drawings DO capture the haughty quality of the BGH, I'd encourage you to generate a very exaggerated, stylised version (i.e. where the moustache is comically large, or the head is out of proportion or similar) - I'd like to see you try a more 'toony' and shape-based version; my instincts tell me that your final design will exist in a venn diagram between the two approaches.

Here you see Heather's first character design (on left) it has an 'unreadable' silhouette - whereas the one on the right communicates character aspects very easily. I think if you were to generate a silhouette of your existing character design, it would verge on the generic...
Hi Phil, I see what you mean and had similar concerns as well. Will try to develop the character further with more exaggerations for a more intriguing silhouette. Heather's work is a great example seeing her character develop.
